Kinja'd!!!

Hello fine folks! I’m flying into Denver Friday morning to meet my folks/brother in Estes Park. We’re renting an airBnB for a for a little under a week and I’m looking for some fun things to do/see, either in Estes or Denver as we’ll spend time between both areas.

Looking for: Hiking trails/pretty photography spots, breweries/bars, restaurants, something car related (long shot but you never know). Anything else interesting - My brother and I are in are mid-late 20's and will probably want to do some exploring/something more fun by ourselves.

Anyways, I’m pretty excited, never been to Colorado and can’t wait to use my camera for non car/work related things.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Considering getting something fun off Turo for a day (although I heard M235i’s are kinda meh). We shall see.

I honestly don’t even know where to start but I would say definitely go star gazing in Rocky mountain national park, my wife and I took a too down cruise is my Miata one night and it was incredible, absolutely beautiful. Just be careful of wildlife in the road, we found a moose around a corner and it was terrifying.

Appreciate it. That sounds like a cool thing to do. There just seems like so much nature to see in the area.

Something car related... Umm... Like Pike’s Peak?

Ophir pass and hikes in that area. Lots of cool stuff on the other side of the range from Denver, and easy enough to drive.

Hike around  Bear Lake at Rocky mntn national park. The drive up and down the Trailridge parkway is pretty scenic.

Peak to peak highway if you rent a fun car. Then hit https://shelbyamericancollection.org/ on the way to town. Then hit  https://www.cusslermuseum.com/ once you make it to metro area. After that, go to Denver , hit Rhino (north of downtown) and you can’t throw a rock without hitting a bar, brewery or a distillery.

Awesome, tha t’s perfect. Road looks great as do the museums. Might consider adding on visiting Adam’s Polishes if they allow tours. Cheers!

There definitely is especially in Estes since that’s a little more into the foothills, my wife’s cousin lived there and said herds of elk would block the only roads in and out during mating season. She also got trapped there for weeks by both floods and fires. Also Estes is really big on salt water Taffy for some reason if you're into that.

Interesting, I’m not huge into taffy but I’m sure I’ll try some if that’s the case.

Beware, could still be awfully slushy in that area.

Pack warm clothes.

Get pie or pie pockets at Colorado Cherry Company (it’s between Lyons and Estes). Or hell, even spend a little time in Lyons - Oscar blues b rewery is there and it’s cool. The town is otherwise  pretty tiny though :)

Oooh sounds good, especially being near a brewery. Definitely planned on taking some warmer clothes which is a little bit of a bummer, but I’m excited.

Might be slightly closer. But I feel like all that stuff is totally  worthwhile. Even if it makes for an extra long day.

Trail Ridge is closed until later in June, unfortunately, due to recent snowfall.

Lyons is great for tubing in summer too but you’d freeze to death now. I hope it warms up a bit for you guys.

Check out the bar in the Stanley Hotel. The hotel was the inspiration for The Shining by Stephen King. It’s in Estes Park.

And drink lots of water. No kidding, just always have water with you. It’s dry here and elevation will drain you. Also, sunblock is key.

Thanks! Will definitely check that out, my father will love anything Stephen King related.

Will certainly do that too. My first time at a higher elevation besides Mt. Washington and am going to take it easy. Cheers!

Yeah there's like 15 sweet shops in a tiny little mountain town, it's nice but it's SUPER touristy. But that means you get fun stuff like elk burgers and rocky mountain oysters too.

If you’re still taking suggestions I would add St. Malo’s Chapel on the Rock. If you’re taking the Peak to Peak Hwy to or from Estes anyways you can’t miss it.
